Abu Garcia horizontal rod storage rack

The current Rod Holders collection centres on the Abu Garcia Horizontal 6 Rod Rack. It stores up to six rods or six complete rod-and-reel combinations in a horizontal layout, helping organise equipment in a shop, garage or boat-dock storage area rather than supporting a baited rod during active fishing.

The rack uses lightweight aluminium construction with rubber grommets intended to protect rod finishes. Supplied hardware is described for attachment to wood, metal, fibreglass or plastic, while sheetrock or wallboard requires a suitable wall anchor. The product guidance recommends approximately 42 inches between the two mounts.

Interlocking anchor points are positioned at 16-inch centres to support rack expansion. Before installation, lay out the longest and deepest outfits, including reel handles, butt caps and guides. Six slim rods may fit differently from six complete combinations with large reels, so use actual equipment when setting spacing.

Choose storage capacity and mounting position

Use the wider boating collection for related craft equipment, then organise compatible boat rods and multiplier reels. A horizontal rack helps keep outfits off the floor, but it must not block a walkway, door, electrical panel or access to safety equipment.

Check that the mounting surface can carry the combined rack, rod and reel weight. Locate studs, solid panels or approved fixing points and use anchors suited to the material. Avoid drilling where wiring, pipes, fuel systems, thin hull sections or concealed structural parts may be present.

This storage rack is not an on-water trolling holder. Boat-mounted cradles, clamps and tube holders experience different dynamic loads and require purpose-designed bases. When arranging a wider equipment area, keep stored rods away from delicate transducer poles and camera or sonar components.

Install and care for a fishing rod rack

Mark both mounts level, confirm their spacing with the actual rods and follow the supplied fastening instructions. Tighten hardware evenly without deforming the rack or mounting surface. Test each position with one outfit first, then add the remaining rods while checking that reels and guides do not touch.

Place rods into the rack clean and dry, with hooks, lures and loose leaders removed or fully covered. Do not overload a slot or use the rack as a handle, shelf or support for unrelated equipment. Keep children and pets away from stored hooks and ensure heavy outfits cannot be pulled free.

Inspect screws, anchors, aluminium sections and rubber grommets regularly. Retighten only as the fixing system permits, replace hardened or damaged contact points and correct any movement in the wall or panel immediately. Salt-exposed rods and reels should be cleaned and dried before indoor storage.
