Treble hooks for lures and predator rigs
Treble hooks combine three points around one shank and are commonly fitted to hard lures, spoons and selected predator or sea rigs. The current range includes replacement and pre-rigged options from Westin, Savage Gear, Fox Rage, Kinetic, Berkley, Abu Garcia, Fox and Zebco. Product specifications and local rules determine where each pattern is appropriate.
Size must suit the lure body without letting adjacent hooks foul each other. Wire gauge and strength should match the target fish, drag setting and tackle, while point geometry affects initial penetration. Standard, semi-barbed and other configurations need careful checking because product names do not always describe all three points in enough detail.
Start with the parent fishing hooks collection, or compare single hooks where fewer points, easier unhooking or venue rules make them preferable. Offset hooks suit many weedless soft-plastic presentations. The Double Hooks page is currently empty and should be stocked before it is promoted in customer navigation.
Choose a replacement treble hook
When replacing a lure hook, compare more than the printed size. Shank length, gape, eye orientation and total hook weight can change how the lure suspends, sinks, vibrates or rolls. A heavier replacement may upset a finely balanced bait, while a larger gape can catch the body or leader. Replace split rings if they are distorted or corroded.
Freshwater and saltwater finishes offer different levels of corrosion resistance, but every hook still needs inspection and drying. Rinse appropriate tackle after saltwater use, then check the eye, braze, points and barbs. The fishing-hook guide gives broader context on hook anatomy and selection.
Use treble hooks responsibly
Carry long-handled forceps, cutters and a landing or unhooking system suited to the target species. Keep spare trebles in a rigid compartment and fit hook guards during transport. Never handle a hooked fish while another free treble is swinging; secure the lure before beginning unhooking.
Where pike are possible, use a suitable bite-resistant trace and tackle strong enough to land fish promptly. Read the pike fishing guide for Ireland for wider species context. Fishery rules may limit hook number, barbs or lure type, and those rules always take priority.
