Method feeders carry a compact layer of dampened pellets or groundbait with the hook bait positioned close to the feed. The feeder profile, ribs and loading method help the parcel remain intact during casting and break down on the bottom. Size and weight must suit the bait, range and tackle.

Choose weight, size and mould compatibility
Match feeder capacity to the feeding level and hook bait. A small feeder supports frequent, measured casts, while a larger one introduces more bait but increases total weight and splash. Include the damp mix when checking the rod's casting range.
The mix should compress enough to cast but release after landing. Pellets need correct soaking and draining; groundbait needs even moisture. Test a loaded feeder in the margin and adjust preparation before increasing compression. A parcel that remains solid too long can hide the hook bait or prevent effective release.
Pair the setup with suitable feeder rods and feeder reels. Check whether the chosen water permits the connector and rig arrangement. Use fish-safe components that do not leave a fish tethered to the feeder after line breakage.
Load consistently and inspect the system
Place the hook bait as intended, fill the mould evenly, press the feeder without excessive force and release it cleanly. Cast to a consistent reference and retrieve if the bait parcel has been damaged before reaching the swim.
Inspect the ribs, stem, swivel, connector and weight after impacts or snags. Replace cracked feeders and jammed parts, clean dried bait from moulds and follow venue rules on feeder material, hooklength length and bait quantity. Record the mix, soaking time and mould pressure when a presentation releases cleanly and attracts fish.
