Method moulds for repeatable feeder loading
A method mould shapes pellets or groundbait around a compatible feeder so each cast carries a similar parcel. Consistent loading improves accuracy in feeding and presentation. Mould size, depth, material and release mechanism must match the feeder and the amount of bait required.
Flexible moulds release through movement in the body, while push-button or plunger systems use a mechanical release. Neither type works reliably if the bait is too wet, too dry or over-compressed. Choose size and prepare the bait
Match mould capacity to the feeder, hook bait and feeding level. A small mould creates a compact parcel for cautious feeding, while a deeper mould increases bait quantity and total casting weight. Confirm that the loaded feeder remains inside the rod's rating.
Prepare pellets with controlled soaking and drain them evenly. Mix groundbait gradually so it binds under pressure but breaks down in water. Test a sample in the margin. If the parcel sticks to the mould, review moisture and release technique before adding oils or powders.
Position the hook bait according to the rig and mould design. Keep the hook point protected from hard contact but ensure the finished presentation releases as intended. Apply steady, repeatable pressure rather than forcing the feeder into an overfilled mould.
Release, clean and store the mould
Invert or open the mould as designed and release the feeder without twisting the stem or connector. Check the parcel for cracks and rebuild it if damaged. Do not trim or reshape a mould to fit an incompatible feeder.
Rinse out dried bait, clean moving release parts and dry the mould before storage. Inspect flexible material for splits and buttons or plungers for sticking. Keep matched feeders and moulds labelled together so sizes are not confused during a session. Carry a spare compatible mould when fishing far from the shop or vehicle, especially during matches.
