Deadbait fish for predator and sea angling

Deadbait fish can be presented whole, in sections or as selected pieces for pike and other predator or sea methods where regulations permit. Species, size, firmness and oil content affect casting durability, scent release and how the bait sits. The exact water's bait and tackle rules must be checked before fishing.

A firm bait may withstand casting better, while a softer or oilier bait can release more scent but require careful attachment. Frozen bait should be transported cold and thawed according to the product guidance. Fishing bait must be kept separate from food, and spoiled or contaminated bait should never be used.

Choose size and rig the bait securely

Match bait size to the target fish, hook arrangement, rod rating and casting distance. Larger is not automatically better and may be difficult to cast or present cleanly. Keep hooks positioned so the points remain exposed and the bait cannot slide over them.
